Hand on Heart

Bletchley

Six months ago, on a dark and cold night in November, I switched the TV off. There was nothing in the schedule that attracted my attention, so, I poured myself a long one, fired up my laptop and began a Google search. I was thinking about where to visit in the New Year as we were fast approaching the end of 2019.

As is usual, being an ageing retired man of limited means, my first port of call was the website of National Holidays. In particular the tours in Great Britain, for there are many beautiful places I’ve yet to visit in these isles. I’m a veteran of the ‘Cold War’ and 2020 being, the 75th Anniversary of VE Day, Bletchley Park in Buckinghamshire sprung to mind. This was the home to the Allied Code-breakers during World War 2. Two of my brothers and I have always talked about going there, and I found that National had organised a two day trip for May 9th 2020 and duly booked it for the three of us.

Now, hand on heart, on the run-up to Christmas at the end of 2019 can you honestly say that five months down the line your life would change forever? Before I continue, I have four questions to ask. Here they are:

  • Do you still read your Horoscope every day?
  • Do you still pray to God every day?
  • Do you still wish you’d win the lottery every day?
  • Are you in control of your life?

You already know, we are now approaching the month of June 2020, and I’m no astrologer but, if you answered yes to any or all of those questions, then you should re-set your life goals.

As you reflect over the preceding months of this year, think about the lies you have been fed and the consequences they bring. First, let’s look at the poor innocent creature, which is the horseshoe bat. They (the scientists say) are the cause. Now they’re saying, “forget that, it’s a Pangolin that’s responsible.” Have they no integrity, have they learned nothing from, Louis Pasteur?

Let’s go back to basics. Some say we are the most intelligent of creatures, but, I would argue like many more on the planet, we are losing control of our destiny. Why? The answer is quite simple really, and it’s smacking us all in the face. Over these difficult times, some/we have been terrorised into thinking we won’t survive this ‘flu’ which is all it is. After all, Covid-19 is but another strain of Coronaviruses, which were first discovered in the 1930s. We humans, like all other species on the planet, are “designed?” for life on this good earth, in the same way, other forms of life are.

In basic terms, it’s a case of, Charles Darwin’s ideas, when he formed his scientific theory of evolution. Which resulted from a process that he called natural selection and the struggle for existence. He published the compelling evidence in the 1859 book On the Origin of Species.

Therefore, nature will prevail, and for our planet to sustain itself, every creature that dies, another will be born. So, no matter how much interference there is from scientists to perpetuate the mortality of human life, what is the cost? You decide.

Finally, every year in this country alone, on average, nearly half a million people die. Next year we will see that the year 2020 was a bad one because it has seen a rise in deaths due to Covid-19. That doesn’t mean those unfortunate souls met their demise from a coronavirus; instead, this good earth is the one ‘being’ in control. Let’s leave it there. For now.

Naturally I'm a lovely person to know, but as D'Arcy says 'My good opinion once lost is lost forever.'

I love comments :-)
